Master Class and Concert, Matthews, NC  February 24-25, 2012

The Charlotte Chapter of the AHS and Virginia Harp Center are proud to present Sivan Magen in concert on Saturday, February 25th at the Cross and Crown Lutheran Church in Matthews, NC.  Praised by the press as a “great musician who happens to be a harpist”, Mr. Magen is the first Israeli to have ever won first prize of the International Harp Contest in Israel (2006), and is a recent winner of the Pro Musicis International Award in New York.  A highly respected teacher, he will also offer a Master Class on Friday, February 24th.  Virginia Harp Center will be exhibiting during the event.

Pops Music presentation March 1st, 2012

Beef up your cocktail hour gig book! Join the staff of the Virginia Harp Center Philadelphia for an evening of the best popular music available for lever or pedal harp. We will present works by Lady Gaga, The Beatles, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and more pop standards that every harpist should know!

Don't worry, we do all of the work! Sit back and relax with a mocktail in hand while we present our favorite pop music arrangements. Mid Atlantic Harp Festival, McLean, VA  March 2-3, 2012

Virginia Harp Center will once again be exhibiting at the popular Mid Atlantic Harp Festival!  This year the Washington DC Chapter of the American Harp Society will feature artist Elisabeth Remy Johnson, principal harpist of the Atlanta Symphony. Elizabeth will offer a Master class on Saturday and perform the  closing concert. Events also include an opening concert by the American Youth Harp Ensemble, guest speakers such as Anne Sullivan and Ivan Gardner, a variety of vendors, and the 2nd Annual Student Scholarship Competition, now featuring two divisions.  For more information and registration, go to www.dcharp.org

  • "Tales from the Orchestra" featuring our very own Philadelphia Orchestra harp section of Elizabeth Hainen and Margarita Montanaro. These two harp icons will share stories and answer your questions about playing in the orchestra and working with various conductors throughout the years.
  • Workshops on harp maintenance for lever and pedal harps by Liza Jensen
  • "Music Sampling" sessions for lever and pedal harpists
